Astronomer Mark Thompson brings a meteorite into the studio

A new series of Stargazing Live begins on Tuesday January 8.

Presenter Mark Thompson marked the occasion by bringing a meteorite into the studio.

The piece of solid iron and nickel fell to earth at 90km/second.

Stargazing Live is on BBC 2 at 8pm.
