Designing a new game

Games company Drummond Park want to design a new board game to appeal to all ages. Once they've come up with the basic premise of the game, the graphic designer uses computer software to create a design for the game board. The layout must reflect the rules of the game and allow some enjoyable play to take place, so everything from the number of spaces to the colours of the shapes is carefully considered. The prototype board and other parts of the game - a microphone and a sound circuit board - must then be tested, so a 'focus group' of local 10-year-olds is brought in to play the game. The designers observe and take notes and will use the feedback they get from the children to go on to develop the finished game.
