Viking food
Presenter James MacKenzie is shown the types of food the Vikings ate, and how it was prepared and cooked. Vikings ate fruit and vegetables, kept animals for food - meat, milk, cheese and eggs - and had plenty of fish as they lived near the sea. Bread was made using a quern - stone tools for hand grinding grain. We know about the Vikings' diet and cooking implements from archaeological discoveries in Viking huts and refuse.
