Extract from ‘Some Dogs Bite’ which follows young people looking for stability and security. Three half brothers are on the run in Inverness.
This is the tenth and last clip from the drama 'Some Dogs Bite', which follows a group of vulnerable young people on their journey to find some stability and security in their lives. Three half brothers are on the run in Inverness. The youngest brother, Sevvie has had a bang on the head at the fairground and his two older brothers are worried about him. They take him to the local hospital, even though they know that there is a danger they will alert the authorities. Sure enough, while Sevvie is being examined, the police arrive. When the doctor says they will need to keep Sevvie in for a few days, Casey panics and is taken away screaming by the police. H tries to stop them but he too is overpowered and escorted from the hospital.
The scene cuts to a hearing in a social services meeting room, where it is explained to H that the authorities have decided that Sevvie will remain in care, Casey will be fostered and H will receive support to live independently. H tries to convince them that he could look after his brothers but his plea is rejected. He storms out. Alone again in the empty flat, H drinks himself to sleep in Casey's bunk. When he awakes, he leaves the flat and throws away the key, intending never to return. He visits Casey in the social services centre and promises to keep in touch. As he leaves, he gives Casey the 'dog tag' he took from their friend Lenny's dead body.
