BBC New Comedy Award 2012: Birmingham heat
Take a gander at our film from the Birmingham heat of the BBC New Comedy Award 2012.
On Tuesday 11 September, BBC New Comedy Award 2011 finalist Joe Lycett welcomed ten more competiting comedians to The Glee Club in Birmingham, to be judged by Chortle's Steve Bennett, Executive Producer Alison Vernon-Smith, Producer Lianne Coop and special guest judge Rob Rouse.
To find out what we got up to and who claimed sweet stand-up victory, have a look at our film of the day. You may notice that we took the opportunity of visiting the 'Home of Metal' as an excuse to unleash a bit of Black Sabbath on your ears. If your ears are of a more delicate sensiblity, you may enjoy our other featured local band, Young Runaways.
At the end of the heats, two runners-up will be selected by the judges to go straight through one of our two semi-finals. Eight more runners-up will be chosen to compete online in a wildcard vote, where you'll be able to watch more footage of each performer and vote for who you think deserves a place in the semi-final. Voting will commence on the BBC Radio 2 website from October 8.
