Skin shedding

Mambas are good swimmers and like to drink in the heat. A recently released, tagged mamba - known as Bugs - is ready to shed his skin. He rubs his head against a rough surface until the skin splits, then wriggles his way out of the old one as he moves. A snake's eye can't shut, but has a transparent scale instead of an eyelid. This too is shed.
