Jumping spider
Combining close ups of a 1cm spider with the majesty of an Everest landscape required a straightscope and aerial imaging system - a combination of extension tubes and lenses. Running the HD camera at 60fps slowed the spider down by a factor of 3, but its jumps were slowed down 40 times using a solid state K5 which recorded 2000fps straight to a hard drive. It wasn't feasible, economic, or safe carrying this up Everest, so captive UK stunt doubles completed the sequence.
