Episode One

The first episode of Innovators focusses on childbirth. We unveil four innovations from South Asia designed to make the process safer for mothers and babies and for their life after giving birth. Innovations include a solar suitcase which is helping give consistent energy supply in earthquake hit Nepal so mothers never have to give birth in the dark, a Doctor in Bangladesh who has invented a device to help babies fight pneumonia using a plastic bottle and some tubing, and a woman whose organisation goes door to door persuading families to educate their daughters instead of marrying them off.
