Life Inside Wandsworth Prison

Documentary with unprecedented access inside a British jail, showing violence, drugs smoked openly, and prisoners suffering from mental health problems and self-harm.

Drugs, violence, mental health problems and overcrowding, just some of the challenges faced by prisons in Britain. For seven days earlier this year, BBC News managed to obtain exclusive and unprecedented access inside one of Europe's biggest jails - Wandsworth in South London - one of six prisons where governors are to be given new powers over budgets and the daily regime. Ed Thomas's extraordinary film contains some graphic footage and strong language.
