Bruch's Violin Concerto no 1

Piano music from the New Ross Piano Festival and Emilie Mayer's 5th Symphony performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Anja Bihlmaier

Linton Stephens presents an afternoon of concert performances, beginning in the port town of New Ross in County Wexford, Ireland. Pianist Anna Fedorova performs Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, a musical promenade around a gallery of paintings which the composer enjoyed at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. Ben Gernon conducts Bruch's 1st Violin Concerto with soloist Jennifer Pike. And this week's conductor focus turns to German-born Anja Bihlmaier, directing the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in Emilie Mayer's 5th Symphony.
