On today's phone in we want to talk about the housing market;

"How are you affording to buy or rent a decent quality home?"

The government has announced a new scheme to help first time buyers get on the housing market.

It'll apply to only new build homes- the government hopes it'll increase the number of homes being built. More details will be released of how the scheme will work at the Budget.

There's been a slowdown in house building, and the government hopes this will kick start more homes being available, which will make it easier for people to get on the housing ladder.

But, it's increasingly hard to buy a home, and get the money together for a deposit. Current mortgage rates are high and volatile - which wipes out buyer's affordability.

If you're renting the new Renter's Rights Act has led to some landlords leaving the market and creating a shortage of homes. Which has driven up prices in some areas.
