Faith in Lincoln
Sean Fletcher visits the historic city of Lincoln to explore stories of faith and to introduce modern worship music alongside hymns from the historic cathedral.
Sean Fletcher visits the historic city of Lincoln to explore stories of faith and to introduce modern worship music alongside hymns from the historic cathedral.
Sean visits Alive Church in the centre of the city to meet its founders, Stuart and Irene Bell. He hears the story of how it was established four decades ago with a group of young Christians in their front room and has grown into a network of churches with a combined congregation of 2,000 from over 45 nations.
We also meet Lincoln local Stacey Marriot to hear about her remarkable night light cafe initiative. Stacey explains how her own struggles with mental health, and the support she received, inspired her to set up this free service offering after-hours help to those who need support through tough times. Hosted mostly by churches across the city, the programme ensures there’s a warm welcome and trained volunteers available every single night of the year.
Back at Alive Church, Sean then hears the testimony of the worship pastor Dave Bell, the son of the church’s founders. He reflects on the gift of music and how his faith was shaped by a life-threatening cancer diagnosis in his teens.
With music from across Lincoln, including modern worship from Alive Church.
