Episode 1

Peter MacQueen is about to face one of his biggest challenges – setting up his very own croft. He travels across Scotland to meet every kind of crofter, and their animals, from those who have been crofting all their lives to people who are diversifying.

Peter starts his journey in Lewis where he is helping his brother-in-law at one of the busiest times of year -lambing. After a busy day of births, feeding and doing health check-ups, he then visits a crofter who runs tours with a very different kind of animal - a herd of alpacas!

Back in Oban, he seeks advice from the chief executive of the Scottish Crofting Federation and starts to build up his local crofting community, visiting a friend in Taynuilt with a croft full of flowers.
