Duel-off for quarter-finals place

In Series 1 and 2 of Gladiators, at the end of the heats, whoever was the one fastest male and one fastest female runner up on the Eliminator secured their place in the Quarter Finals.

For Series 3 the Production team developed a new way to decide which runner up from the Heats went through, whereby the two fastest runner ups from the men and the two fastest runner ups from the women went head-to-head in a game of Duel, with the winner of each game securing their place in the Quarter Finals.

These Duel-offs were recorded in Sheffield in front of the live audience at the end of the Heats. When both games were played, no Contender came off the podium when the time was up. That meant there was no clear winner, so it was down to Head Referee, Mark Clattenburg to make the final decision, based on the Contenders performance in the Duel. Mark declared Millie the winner of the female bout and Shaun the winner of the male bout and therefore both won their place in the Quarter Finals.

Although these Duels were not aired on TV, the winners, as declared by Mark Clattenberg did progress through to the Quarter Finals.
