Episode 15
The hunt for a chef who wants to make it to the top of the culinary world.
It's the end of knockout week and time for the second group of five professional contestants to enter the world of pop-ups as they head out of the MasterChef kitchen for the first time in the competition.
The London food hall Boxhall is playing host once more to the MasterChef pop-up. The five competitors must impress 25 movers and shakers from the pop-up world with a dish that will get the locals queuing round the block and firing up their socials. Their creations include tacos, octopus and custard tarts, so the diners are in for a real treat with dishes that are truly on a global scale. Marcus and Monica are on hand for some motivation and to taste the goods on offer, but it’s the diners who have the most power, as they will vote for their favourite dish, which will see one chef soaring straight into the semi-finals.
The chefs have to wait for the diners' verdict until they are back in the MasterChef kitchen and hear the outcome from the judges. The four hopefuls who were pipped to the post will need to cook again, and this time round, the judges are asking for their family favourite. This dish can be inspired by memories of loved ones, past or present. It may elicit emotions, but will it elicit flavour? In one hour and 45 minutes, the chefs need to deliver a restaurant-worthy dish that has the judges in raptures.
Those who impress the most will forge ahead and become the eight semi-finalists, but only one can become champion.
