Indian matchmaker Sima Aunty on love and marriage
Reality TV star Sima Taparia on love, marriage and the reality of modern matchmaking
Sima Taparia, known to millions as Sima Aunty from the Nextflix show Indian Matchmaking, has become one of reality TV’s biggest stars. Her straight talking approach has led to around 150 matches and built her a huge global fanbase, but it's also sparked some debate along the way too.
Sima reflects on the show’s success, the criticism she's attracted, and how she approaches matchmaking in the modern world, where ideas around dating, love and timelines are rapidly shifting. She also talks about her life beyond the series, including her own marriage, the impact of fame, and why she thinks people need to be less picky and more open to arranged marriage.
Three single listeners also share their thoughts on Sima's approach to compatibility and compromise. Aisha, Suki and Amna outline what they want from a relationship and how they see love and marriage today.
