Jane Austen’s unconstrained comedy of youthful rebellion, love at first sight, door-slamming, theft, elopement and death, was written when the novelist was only 14. ***The 'mistake' in the title's spelling is a deliberate stylistic choice, not an oversight, making the title itself a part of the parody.

Two young heroines substitute the quivering emotions of sensibility for common sense in this exuberant parody of the sentimental and romantic novels of the day.
