A grieving writer and father of two young boys is coming to terms with the death of his wife while writing a book about Ted Hughes.

Dad struggles to cope until an unexpected visitor, Crow, arrives.

Crow is a therapist, healer and a ‘feathered Mary Poppins’, who promises to stay until he is no longer needed.

Max Porter’s multi award-winning novel, first published in 2015.

Its title is derived from the Emily Dickinson poem, “‘Hope’ is the Thing with Feathers” and the Ted Hughes work, ‘Crow’.
