Happy Leid Week!
Helen and the team look forward to Leid Week 2025.
Helen Mark presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show this week alongside Rab Lennox, Jonnie Crawford and Willie Hill.
It’s Leid Week - a celebration of Ulster-Scot’s language and culture now in it’s 7th year - Director of Development at the Ulster-Scots Agency David Gilliland joins the team to explain more. Willie finds out about a walking tour designed to shine light on the history of everywhere from Kells to The White House while Jonnie focuses on the causeway coast with help from deputy-mayor Richard Stewart. Meanwhile, the entire team highlight a few of their stand out events.
There's also a conversation ahead of a lecture as part of Derry/Londonderry‘s ‘Island Voices’ series - this year marking the 75th anniversary of C.S Lewis’s ‘Chronicles of Narnia’. But where's the Ulster-Scots connection? Dr Frank Ferguson explains....
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - [email protected].
