Lorry Crime Exposed

An investigation into the criminal gangs targeting goods transported by lorry. Following companies set up by a dead man, pursuits by the police and the hunt for suspects.

More than £100m worth of branded and designer goods – from cigarettes and alcohol to handbags and shoes - were stolen on their way to shops in the UK last year. This BBC investigation exposes the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by the organised criminals, who are targeting lorries on a daily basis, leaving drivers terrified and pushing up prices for shoppers.

BBC reporter Elizabeth Glinka joins the police teams fighting back against the gangs, deploying helicopters and high-speed pursuits. But criminals are turning to more brazen methods, posing as legitimate trucking companies to steal lorry loads of valuable goods. This investigation uncovers a trail of evidence – including a new Lamborghini and a dead man’s identity – in pursuit of the suspects behind the fraud.
