Archie Fisher Tribute

Anna Massie with a tribute to former Travelling Folk presenter and musician, Archie Fisher.

Anna pays tribute to singer, songwriter, guitarist and former Travelling Folk presenter, Archie Fisher. Archie presented Travelling Folk from 1983 until 2010. He was a hugely influential figure in the Scottish folk music scene, releasing several albums and working with artists such as Barbara Dickson and his sisters, Cilla and Ray.

We hear some of Archie's music and interviews from the archive as well as chatting to those who knew him well including former producer, Ken Mutch and fellow musicians Barbara Dickson and Brian McNeil. Plus English folksinger Amy Davenport tells us the story of when she met Archie and how he gifted her a song.

And in the second hour, Elspeth Cowie joins us to chat about a mini tour- ‘a Wheen o’ Wimmin- Singing Our Stories’ which she has been taking around Scotland along with Barbara Dymock, Amy Lord, Aileen Carr, and Chris Miles.
