We’re handing over the trunk to Irvine Welsh. Known for his razor-sharp novels and gritty cultural insight, Irvine has turned his attention to the sound of soul, groove and dance-floor stories. In collaboration with The Sci Fi Soul Orchestra he’s recently released ‘Men in Love’, a soundtrack to his new book of the same name, blending Motown soul, disco swagger and modern electronics to reflect the messy search for connection, redemption and love.
For this thirty-minute Trunk of Funk, Irvine digs into the sounds that shaped his world, music that’s raw, soulful, and full of life.
