Bilal's Flowers

From Monday to Thursday, Soweto is joined by Grammy award-winning American R&B and soul singer, Bilal.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.

From Monday to Thursday, Soweto is joined by Grammy award-winning American R&B and soul singer, Bilal. He has released six studio albums to date, and is an in-demand voice for many of his peers including Robert Glasper, Kendrick Lamar, and J Dilla. He was also a member of the Soulquarians, a group which also featured artists including Erykah Badu, Questlove, and D’Angelo.

Bilal studied at New York’s prestigious The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and this week he is choosing four artists from the jazz world and beyond that have inspired him.

Tonight, he picks an American singer and multi-instrumentalist who has influenced artists across the globe including Bilal, with his infectiously groove-laden compositions, and signature harmonica sound.

Also in the programme, music from RAYE, Byron Wallen, and Momoko Gill.
