Heanor 31
Two family duos rush around a huge antiques centre in search of profitable collectibles to sell at auction. Guiding them are experts Irita Marriott and John Cameron.
Natasha Raskin Sharp looks back at fashions from several centuries ago, when puffed sleeves, ruffs and bodices were all the rage. In the workshop of historical costumier Ninya Mikhaila, Natasha learns about the techniques used to decorate Tudor garments, including one called pinking.
There are two teams in the pink too as they shop for bargains at a jam-packed antiques centre in Heanor, Derbyshire. On the red team are mum and daughter Kate and Ellie, guided by their antiques expert Irita Marriott. They’re competing against the blues, grandmother and grandson Carole and Tom, skippered by expert John Cameron.
The reds start their shop by rummaging through costume jewellery, but Irita senses there isn’t a profit to be made. Over with the blues, Carole picks up a pith helmet in the hope of completing their challenge, but John is keen to explore more of the antiques centre.
With their hour up, the teams journey east to Grantham to sell their items at Colin Young’s auction. Irita surprises her red team with a blue bonus buy, and John reveals a familiar item to his team. Will their bonus buys decide the winners?
