Episode 10

Vehicle recovery specialist Richard is tracking expensive farm vehicles stolen in broad daylight. He traces them to a scrapyard, but as he arrives, they’re on the move again.

In recent years, car crime has become an epidemic, blighting towns and cities across the UK. But it’s not just urban areas being hit. In the countryside, thefts of expensive farm vehicles, such as tractors, are costing the agricultural industry around £40 million a year.

Three vehicles – a tractor, a digger and a dumper truck - are stolen in broad daylight. One of them is fitted with a tracking device, so theft recovery specialist Richard picks up the signal and traces the stolen vehicles to a scrapyard near Middlesbrough. Just as he arrives, he spots two of the stolen machines being moved out on the back of a low loader. He quickly tips off the police, but can he stop them getting away?

Dramatic CCTV footage captures the moment thieves steal two identical cars, belonging to neighbours Dee and Mark, in Copthorne, West Sussex. Neither car is fitted with a tracker, but Dee and Mark manage to trace both vehicles – thanks to an appeal on social media.

Trackers Jason and Alan are heading to Croydon to snatch back a hire car that hasn’t been returned despite being in a front-end smash. They’ve been monitoring the car’s movements over a 48-hour period and are now using live tracking to trace and recover it. They find the vehicle in a school car park and use a spare key to take possession and drive it away.
