The New Harvest

Daljit Nagra selects The New Harvest as Sean Borodale explores the changing nature of harvests through poetry. From 2023.

Daljit Nagra revisits the BBC's poetry archive and, to mark the changing seasons, he selects The New Harvest.

This is an exploration of the annual farming rituals, produce and the changing nature of harvests through poetry.

Harvests have featured in poetry and songs for centuries, spanning both the beauty and difficulty of farming.

Poet Sean Borodale discovers how to write a harvest poem now, as he visits farms and witnesses the rituals and celebrations of this time of year.

He'll share poems inspired by harvest time and take a snapshot of our harvests, to hear what has changed and the new reality of farming.
