Day 3: Men's Marathon
Day 3 gets under way with Emile Cairess aiming for a first British world athletics medal in the men's marathon, while Molly Caudery will be looking to qualify for the women's pole vault final.
Emile Cairess is aiming for a place on the podium as the men’s marathon gets under way on the streets of Tokyo on day 3 of the World Athletics Championships. No British man has ever won a medal in this event, so he is hoping for a place in history.
In the National Stadium, Molly Caudery is looking to make up for her 2024 Olympics heartbreak in Paris, where she failed to record a valid jump, by qualifying for the women’s pole vault final. Femke Bol is the outstanding favourite to become the 400m hurdles world champion. She starts her campaign for gold in the heats.
