Day 6 gets under way at the Athletics World Championships in Tokyo with the 800m heats. Meanwhile, there are the qualifiers for the women's 5,000m and the 200m semi-finals.
Day 6 gets under way at the Athletics World Championships in Tokyo with a first glimpse of Great Britain’s Olympic star Keely Hodgkinson. The 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year has struggled through an injury-hit season but is the favourite for gold after running the fastest time in the world in August. Training partner Georgia Hunter-Bell also lines up in the 800m heats.
The session starts with qualifying for the women’s 5,000m, with Faith Kipyegon back on the track after the 1,500m earlier in the week. Meanwhile, after finishing fourth at the last World Championships in Budapest, Morgan Lake is looking for a place in the women’s high jump final as the qualifiers also get under way.
