Crackerjack!

4 Extra Debut. Remember Double or Drop and a booby prize of a cabbage? It’s Friday! It’s five to five.. Janet Ellis gets nostalgic. From 2005.

On 12th September 1955, BBC TV's children's programme Crackerjack! was born.

It started with, amongst other things, an idea for a game by Eamonn Andrews, and ended nearly 30 years later having entertained generations of children along the way.

Janet Ellis presents this affectionate look back with the help of former presenters and performers from the series.

Plus there's lots and lots of enthusiastic children shouting "Crackerjack!".

Produced at BBC Manchester by Angela Sherwin

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in October 2005.
