Touching the Elephant
4 Extra Debut. Kim Normanton hears the reactions of four blind people when they first encounter an elephant up close at London Zoo.
**** This programme was suggested by Graeme Fraser as part of BBC Radio 4 Extra’s All Request Weekend ****
Meet a woman who loves animals, a sex-mad computer whizz, a piano-tuner and an imaginative child.
Each person is blind.
Never having encountered an elephant, they talk about what kind of a beast it might be.
When they are given the opportunity to touch one at London Zoo, each person has a very different reaction.
Presented by Kim Normanton.
Producer: Matt Thompson
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in April 1997.
