Naga Munchetty explores the landmark events of the 21st century via the lens of music. Part one: 2000 to 2008.

In 2025, BBC Radio 3 challenged contemporary composers to tell the story of the century thus far with music. Each of the resulting "25 for 25" commissions is inspired by an event that has somehow defined the first quarter of the century.

Part one charts the years 2000-2008 - from the start of the new millennium through to Barack Obama being elected as the first African-American president. This episode features the music of Anna Clyne, Stephen Hough, Erland Cooper, Arowah, Jasdeep Singh Degun, Sauli Zinovjev, Kieran Brunt, Jasper Dommett and Nkeiru Okoye.
