Luis Enrique’s PSG cantered to their fourth successive French top-flight title this season with six games to spare, but major European success has so far proven elusive. The Parisians were runners-up in this competition five years ago, and Marseille remain the only French side to claim the Champions League crown, having done so back in 1993.

Champions of Europe on three occasions, Inter reached this stage after defeating Barcelona in one of the greatest two-leg ties in Champions League history. Simone Inzaghi’s outfit produced a dramatic late turnaround to edge past the Catalan giants 7-6 on aggregate, with midfielder Davide Frattesi scoring the winner in the first period of extra time.

It is also the first Champions League final in 21 years that doesn’t feature a Premier League, Bundesliga or La Liga club. So can the Serie A side prevail, or will Ligue 1 provide a Champions League winner for the first time in 32 years?
