Episode 12

Episode 12 of 16

Officers arrest a man at Bermuda’s biggest event of the year, police race to a moped crash involving tourists, and officers on jet skis police revellers partying at sea.

Cup Match is the biggest event of the year and has entered its second day of cricket between bitterest of rivals Somerset and St George’s. Officers Crystal Correia and Litanya Smith are on duty at the stadium as the match reaches its dramatic climax. In the aftermath of Somerset’s victory, constables at the ground need to step in to arrest a man, following a heated dispute between passionate fans.

Cup Match festivities are also happening at sea, where British reserve officer Hugo Benziger and his colleagues in the coastguard police the water and the hordes of revellers heading to so-called raft-up parties. It’s the officers' job to keep a close eye on excessive alcohol consumption and vessel safety. The jet-ski-riding Brit reveals that there can be anything between 4,000 and 5,000 people on the water.

Away from Cup Match, constables Imani Scott and Daischon Chin need to rush to the scene of a moped crash involving two tourists. Thankfully, neither motorist is seriously injured, but bike impound officer Mark Lewis knows only too well the reality of the dangers of driving on Bermuda’s narrow, twisting roads. He has lost a couple of people he knows, not just through the job but personally; a friend of his died when he was younger from a road traffic collision, and he has family members that have suffered injuries from collisions.
