Episode 3

Monty travels across the middle of the country, from Wales to Norfolk. He comes across gardens for gnomes, much-loved and well-tended allotments, and extravagant gardens that bankrupted their owners.

Monty Don travels across one of the widest parts of Britain, from the wet western Atlantic coast in Wales through the hilly Midlands and down to the low-lying eastern coast of Norfolk, which has some of the lowest rainfall in the country.

Here, Monty visits places that have influenced how people garden, small, deeply loved spaces, and gardens that bankrupted their owners. Monty sees how intensely personal British gardens can be and how they reflect some of the greatest passions as well as some real eccentricities.
