Introducing BBC Northern Ireland’s Centenary Collection

From Ballykissangel to Why Don’t You?, BBC Northern Ireland has released an iPlayer collection of classic shows from their archive to mark 100 years of the BBC in Northern Ireland.

Programmes featured in the collection include a documentary on Rathlin Island from 1957, an episode of Whistle Test featuring U2 and Sinead O’Connor from 1987, a 1978 documentary on trains presented by Liam Neeson and an episode of Ballykissangel from 1998 in which Colin Farrell joins the cast.

In this introduction to the collection, Steven Rainey and film historian Robert JE Simpson discuss some of the programmes featured.
