House music is one of dance music's oldest genres and is still a mainstay today. In the first of two episodes on the genre, Pete Tong shares some of the biggest and best formative house tunes and celebrates some essential figures.

Plus, Pete delves into the Radio 1 Dance archive to rewind a slice of a classic Essential Mix from the Godfather of House, Frankie Knuckles - recorded at Pacha Ibiza in 2000.
