As France moves to centre stage with Paris hosting the Summer Olympics and Paralympics, Talking Movies celebrates classic French cinema. France boasts one of most successful film industries in Europe, and it recently earned international acclaim at the Oscars for its courtroom drama Anatomy of a Fall.
With contributions from an impressive array of cineastes and distinguished journalists, Tom Brook and the Talking Movies team looks at the works of top French directors by revisiting five French classic films: Amelie, Breathless, Mon Oncle, Cyrano de Bergerac and Hiroshima, Mon Amour. All films that broke new ground and feel as vibrant today as they were when they were first made.
