Jane Nicholas has been a bridesmaid at 27 weddings and is happy to work at a Manhattan magazine run by entrepreneur George, on whom she has an unrequited crush. When her younger sister Tess arrives back from Europe after a whirlwind romance, Jane is inevitably asked to be Tess's bridesmaid. Jane's happy routine is punctuated by Kevin, a cynical journalist who writes the 'commitments' column for a New York magazine.
