Virgins in Session

Like Punk, the word ‘shoegaze’ started out as a pejorative journalistic term, back in the early 90s, used to describe the swirling guitars and hazy, echo-laden layers of noise made by bands like Ride, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Nowadays, it’s a genre of indie music. Belfast quintet Virgins have just released their debut album “Nothing Hurt and Everything Was Beautiful” and it is a breathtaking exploration of the sonic terrain of ‘shoegaze’.
