Farmers are protesting, but what’s at the root of their anger, and how does it relate to the challenges we face on climate, nature and the basic task of feeding Wales?

The food we rear and grow in Wales is very different from what we actually eat. No Farmers No Food is the rallying cry in agriculture but in Wales we produce mostly red meat and dairy and consume only a fraction of that, whilst most fruit and vegetable consumption is sourced from outside the UK. Sarah Dickins and Simon Wright hear from struggling young dairy farmers in Monmouthshire working 14 hour days 7 days a week, and learn of their efforts to cut out the supermarkets by selling milk direct to the public. In Crickhowell they meet the ambitious growers who are out to prove we can put sustainable Welsh fruit and veg on all of our plates.
