Surgeons at University Hospital Southampton perform high-risk spinal surgery and attempt to repair a patient’s aorta - the body’s biggest artery - that is threatening to burst.
Consultant cardiac surgeon Amit Modi is faced with the case of 70-year-old grandmother Jeanette, who is in desperate need of surgery, as her aorta - the body’s biggest artery - is diseased and threatening to rupture.
Meanwhile, consultant spinal surgeons Chris Dare and Steve McGillion have a patient whose conditions are so challenging that they need to operate for over 20 hours across two days to try to give him a better quality of life.
