Itta from travelling family band Tengger takes us on a musical tour of Eurasia, taking in sounds from Korea, China, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Tuva.
TENGGER is a travelling musical family, centred on Pan-Asian couple Itta and Marqido. They create a unique brand of psychedelic New-Age drone using harmonium, voice and analogue synths. The duo were originally called 10 but after the birth of their son Raii (who also plays with them – we said they were a family band) renamed themselves Tengger, which means ‘unlimited expanse of sky’ in Mongolian, to mark the expansion of the family. Tengger also means ‘huge sea’ in Hungarian. Their self-titled 13th album was released at the end of September.
