After losing her leg in an airstrike, four-year-old Hala was deeply traumatised. Humanity & Inclusion’s team in Yemen worked to gain Hala’s trust and build her confidence until we could fit her with a prosthetic leg.

For Hala, a prosthetic limb on its own was not enough. By providing psychological support alongside physical rehabilitation, our teams give hope in the most difficult circumstances. Today, Hala is walking again & playing happily with other children.

20,000 casualties per year
Last year, nearly 20,000 people worldwide were killed or injured by explosive weapons. In Ukraine, Yemen, Iraq and Syria, innocent civilians are being left with life-changing injuries and psychological trauma. But, with specialist care, survivors like Hala can recover.
