It’s been something of a rollercoaster so far for Gareth Southgate’s side. A lacklustre performance against USA was sandwiched by two impressive displays against Iran and Wales which helped them top their group.

Senegal have brushed off the absence of star player Sadio Mane to reach the knockout stages for only the second time after they famously made the quarter-finals on debut in 2002.
