Mercury Prize 2022 Shortlist Special

Today, the 12 artists who have been shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize will be revealed, and - from 11am-12pm - 6 Music broadcasts a Mercury Prize Shortlist Special. Sitting in for Mary Anne today, Nemone brings listeners interviews with the artists behind the 2022 Albums of the Year and plays a track from each of their nominated albums. The Mercury Prize recognises the best new British and Irish music, celebrating artistic achievement across an eclectic range of contemporary music genres. Previous winners of the Mercury Prize include Arlo Parks (2021), Michael Kiwanuka (2020), Dave (2019) and Wolf Alice (2018). The winner of the 2022 Mercury Prize will be announced on Thursday 8th September at the Awards Show which takes place at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith in London. As the Prize’s broadcast partner, BBC Music will provide television and radio coverage (on BBC Radio 6 Music) of the event.
