Indonesia is the world's biggest producer of palm oil, accounting for almost two-thirds of global exports and generating billions of dollars of revenue. A BBC News joint investigation with Mongabay and The Gecko Project has found palm oil producers supplying major global brands are depriving local communities of their share of the profits, failing to comply with promises and regulations requiring them to share their plantations with communities.
