Sri Lanka is grappling with its worst economic crisis since independence more than 70 years ago. The country now owes over £20bn to international debtors and inflation has soared to the highest rate in Asia. People from every strata of society are seeing their livelihoods destroyed and tens of thousands have taken to the streets in protesting against the policies of President Rajapaksa and demanding his resignation. Rajini Vaidyanathan reports from Colombo on the unfolding crisis.
