Carers Worldwide
There is little or no support for family carers in low- and middle-income countries and we are working to change that. Carers Worldwide is a small family run charity and the only organisation working exclusively and strategically with unpaid family carers in the global South, promoting recognition of their vital role and drawing attention to their needs. We partner with local NGOs in India, Nepal and Bangladesh to deliver our innovative five-point Carers Worldwide Model, which transforms the lives of family carers by bringing them better health, wellbeing and economic security. Our vision is a world in which every carer is valued and their needs are met.
Hema’s story

Hema lives in a small village in southern India. Her husband suffered a series of strokes which left him unable to walk, out of work and completely dependent on Hema. She devoted all her time to him and, like many carers, neglected her own needs.
A path out of poverty

For families like Hema’s, illness and disability can bring severe financial hardship. Carers Worldwide helps carers find employment that can co-exist alongside their caring responsibilities. During Covid 19 Hema has been making masks for health workers.
The chance to talk

Our carers groups provide the opportunity for family carers to meet together, often for the first time. The chance to talk, share challenges and feel part of a community, provides vital emotional connections.
