It’s a big day for Ruairi while Brian attempts to pick up the pieces

Ruairi chats to Ben over an early breakfast before collecting his A Level results. They talk over what happened yesterday which has convinced Ruairi he’s not wanted in the Aldridge family. Meanwhile, Alice tries to convince Brian she feels terrible for what she said yesterday and she will fix it. Furious Brian doesn’t want to hear it – she’s caused a lot of hurt and he doesn’t believe her promise to stop drinking.
Ruairi opens his A-Level results in front of Ben. He’s got 3 A stars. Ben’s set to celebrate but Ruairi’s not so keen. He’s just ready to get out of Ambridge as soon as he can. Later, he messages his results to Jennifer who shares them with Brian. They’ve been remembering when Ruairi was little; Brian cannot praise Jennifer’s efforts with his son enough, but Jennifer still feels in some way she’s let Ruairi down.
Alice finds Ruairi at Brookfield and apologises whole-heartedly for her behaviour yesterday. Ruairi wonders if she’s done him a favour by speaking the truth. Alice assures him that’s not the case. But Ruairi has already made plans to get out of Alice’s way. He’s going to Ireland to visit family and from there he’ll go on to university.
