Alice struggles to stay in control and plans for the summer fete are thrown into chaos

Lilian's been sorting jumble for the fete. Alan’s curious about who the fete’s mystery celebrity guest is. Lynda’s not giving any clues. Then, Lilian reveals to Alan that the guest is Lynda herself. Lilian’s worried people will be disappointed and this in turn will bring Lynda down. Alan suggests talking to Robert but his and Lilian’s conversation is interrupted by Lynda who’s heard that Audrey and Hilary are complaining to the district council about scarecrows, which could threaten the fete’s licence.
Jennifer’s feeling more up to dealing with Alice after having a break with her at Amy’s. Alan’s brought her back. Ruairi tries to encourage Alice to go back to rehab but she tells him to keep his nose out and leaves. She returns later, drunk, and is cruel to Jennifer and Ruairi. She blurts out how Jennifer revealed her true feelings about Ruairi and Siobhan to her and Kate when she was supporting Ruairi with receiving a posthumous CD from his mum. This stuns Ruairi and he leaves. Jennifer can’t believe Alice is being so hateful, and she slaps her.
